大概于二十世纪初，衬帽是男士衣柜的必备品，除西装、领带及皮鞋外，帽是标准礼服造型不可欠缺之物。直至六十年代开始，时装潮流逐渐转变，帽子的地位已不大如前，当然潮流始终都是循环不息，如今戴帽又变成有型有格的表现，成为重要的时装配件。
